Professional REflection
The journal of NATRE.
NATRE’s journal is published three times each year called Professional Reflection, presenting articles and reviews geared to the interests of the reflective practitioner in Religious Education (Religion and Worldviews).
This may include teachers throughout their careers, those studying for professional and academic qualifications, those who are doing formal or informal research in their classrooms, and those who support the teaching of RE, such as advisors and lecturers. All articles are theory and research-linked, bringing academic thinking to bear on issues relevant to the classroom and to the development of the subject.
Books chosen for review demonstrates a concern for much more than just the ‘subject’ of RE, as do the sayings and quotations – from the provocative to the amusing.
All editions of Professional Reflection can be found on the REtoday magazine online website. Articles tend to be positioned somewhere between the teacher-based articles found in REtoday and peer-reviewed, research articles found in the British Journal of Religious Education. They are intended to be accessible to all, providing information and ideas for developing personal practice, and reflecting on the developing nature of the subject. Other sections highlight new academic research currently being undertaken that is relevant to practitioners in our field, alongside books and media reviews. Each issue, an article is selected by the editorial team to be made Open Access on the NATRE website, so that they are more easily available to a wider audience.
