The Curriculum and Assessment Review 2025– Implications for Religious Education
The Department for Education has now published the final report of the Curriculum and Assessment Review together with the Government’s official response. These documents set out significant proposals for curriculum reform across all subjects, including recommendations for Religious Education (RE) to become part of a new National Curriculum framework from 2028. The Government has accepted many of the review’s findings and announced a sector-led Task and Finish Group to develop national RE content.
NATRE has produced a summary presentation outlining the key points from the Review and Government Response, focusing on:
- Proposed changes affecting RE and SMSC
- The transition from the EBacc to a revised Progress 8 model
- The timeline for curriculum and qualifications reform through to 2032
A set of discussion questions is also included to help teachers, SACREs and school leaders reflect on the implications for curriculum planning, staffing and professional development.
