A Guide to Religious Studies for Teachers with Other Specialisms (TWOs)
About this resource
Why do we teach RS?
- It studies people and how they make sense of the world
- Everyone has a worldview (your understanding of the world) as it is your approach to life, your way of being, your commitments and values
- The RS classroom provides students with the opportunity to reflect on their own worldviews and how these may have been shaped by religious and non-religious traditions
- Society is increasingly plural and diverse; students need to be equipped with the tools to navigate it
- An RS curriculum is inclusive as it allows all to be represented and respected
