God’s dead and we have killed him

By Name: UnknownAge: N/A School: UnknownArtwork Title: “God’s dead and we have killed him.” from My piece is names after a quote by the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, “God is dead, and we have killed him.” The hands coming from the outside of the picture represent God. Two of them are creating an ark in the background. Surrounding this ark, is a huge ying yang, with the zodiac (western and eastern), spiralling out of it. This represents biodiversity and the animal kingdom. The fact that all of these symbols are coming out of the ark is significant, as the ark is being made out of trees further in the background. This symbolises our dependence on the natural world, and also our ignoring of it.

Two other hands are holding puppet strings, controlling people, who in turn are holding smaller puppet strings, and so on. This represents peoples deterministic and pessimistic views about the climate crisis.

Dropping down from the longest persons ankle is a bell, with a timer attached to it. This symbolises the limited time that we have to fix these problems. 
There are aksi two outside elements that give it a 3rd dimension. One of these is the huge tear running through the piece. It’s meant to evoke the feeling of a scar in the paper, which is a metaphor for our destruction of nature one of God’s endulgments, hence the name God is dead and we have killed him. The other outside element it involves consists of many water spillages all over the image, which represents our distortion on reality, and what is morally correct. 
Finally, right in the centre at the bottom part of the image is God’s all seeing eye. The fact that the iris has a hole through it, represents God’s embodiments as nature , if you held the image up to light, the eye will glow, as well as the sun.
