Fruitages of the Spirit

The scripture that inspired my artwork is Galatians 5:22,23. My picture is called Fruitages of the spirit, because we are like a tree; if we display the fruitages of the spirit, (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control) we will blossom.

While I was creating this piece, I came to realise that now, more than ever, it is important that we display such qualities in this cruel and harsh world. It is like a cycle; if we show these qualities, others will too.

The religion that has inspired me the most while making this artwork is my very own; I am a Jehovah’s Witness. Everything I and all Jehovah’s witnesses, do is motivated by love, henceforth, love is at the very centre of the fruitages. If there was no love in this world, qualities such as justice, peace and kindness would not exist.

To create this piece, I first meditated very carefully on Galatians 5:22,23. After that, I drew a large pencil tree, and coloured it in, trying to show texture and depth. Later, I gave the edge of each branch a thorough coating of PVA glue. I then began to, using a heart hole punch, cut lots of tiny heart leaves from a sheet of blossom paper. Previously, I had cut out bigger hearts for the nine fruitages. After much cutting, I sprinkled the smaller hearts onto my piece and stick the bigger ones on.

When they look at this picture, I want everyone to realise that in this unloving world, here is somebody out there who does love and cherish us, and really knows us as an individual. Read Matthew 10:29. God knows us well, and he wants us to get to know him too. If we want to get to know an individual, we must know their name. The name God is a title; God has many titles, for example, father and creator. God’s name is Jehovah. Read Isaiah 45:3. Jehovah means: he causes to become. We could spend hours learning about Jehovah; he causes to become. We could spend hours learning about Jehovah; he displays all the fruitages.

This is the message I want everyone to take away. It is important to show the fruitages of the spirit. In order to do this, we need to get to know Jehovah.
