 This half‑day course explores what high‑quality RE looks like in EYFS, offering practical, inspiring and developmentally appropriate approaches to teaching RE in the early years. Through guided input, shared examples and rich discussion, you will gain a clear understanding of how to build strong foundations that support children’s RE learning throughout their primary education.

This half‑day course will help you understand what strong, meaningful RE looks like in EYFS and how to build the foundations that support children’s learning throughout their school journey.

Drawing on the idea that “the years of early childhood are the time to prepare the soil”, you will explore how RE in EYFS can spark curiosity, nurture belonging, and create moments of awe and wonder. The session will include:

  • What high‑quality RE looks like in EYFS
  • Developmentally appropriate approaches to teaching RE
  • Practical ideas for continuous provision, enhanced provision, and adult‑led learning
  • Using story, play, talk, and exploration to build understanding
  • Creating opportunities for awe, wonder and noticing
  • Supporting children to make sense of themselves and others
  • Examples of effective practice from a range of schools

You will leave with a wealth of practical ideas, clarity about what matters most in EYFS RE, and confidence to champion strong foundations in your setting.
