Synoptic Links Scholars Dinner Party Plan Rules

About this resource

Synoptic Links Scholars Dinner Party Plan Rules is a an engaging classroom activity helps A Level Religious Studies students make synoptic links across the Eduqas specification by encouraging them to connect scholars, ideas and themes from different areas of the course. Synoptic understanding is a key requirement of A Level RS, where students study religion, philosophy of religion and ethics and are expected to recognise relationships between these areas.

The resource uses a creative “Scholars’ Dinner Party” planning activity, where students imagine which key thinkers should be invited to a discussion and explore how their ideas relate to one another. By selecting scholars and explaining the connections between them, students practise identifying links between philosophical arguments, ethical theories and religious beliefs.

Ideal for revision lessons, enrichment activities or collaborative learning, this resource helps develop students’ evaluative and analytical skills while reinforcing subject knowledge. It provides teachers with a structured yet flexible way to promote deeper synoptic thinking, discussion and exam preparation within A Level Religious Studies.
