Vocational pathway: Digital, computing & AI

About this resource

How does Religious Education prepare young people for careers in digital technology, computing and artificial intelligence? This vocational pathways resource helps secondary RE teachers explore the increasingly important ethical and human questions surrounding technology and working life.

Suitable for pupils interested in careers including software development, IT, cyber security, data technology and digital support, the resource connects religion and worldviews with questions about privacy, accountability, human dignity, responsibility and the ways technology shapes identity and community. It also considers online behaviour, digital communication, misinformation, representation of religious and non-religious worldviews and the need to evaluate information critically.

The resource demonstrates how RE can develop transferable skills for digital careers, including questioning claims, evaluating sources, recognising assumptions, considering contrasting perspectives and making responsible ethical decisions. Use it to make meaningful connections between Religious Education, AI, digital citizenship, careers education and employability, and to demonstrate the continuing relevance of RE in a technology-driven world.
