Shining Light

I have decided to enter the “Holy Words” Category for the Spirited Arts Competition. The quote that I have based my work on is from Psalm 18:28

“MY GOD TURNS MY DARKNESS INTO LIGHT”

I like this quote as it clearly tells people that God is light that he can help to guide us through life. But the choice is ours.  

I decided that the most appropriate way to demonstrate this was to design a light showing Gods light and love.

The key to the idea is that you can decide not believe in God, so you turn off the switch. However at any time in your life you can decide to flick the switch and allow Gods light to shine. You can go from darkness to light.

The base is solid wood but from it the light emerges. The light comes from the words that spell out God. Holy words. I have made the shape of the shade grow from the words upwards, showing the journey through God to afterlife or heaven. The chicken wire has holes showing that we all make mistakes but the light will still shine for us.
