The Tree of Life

The Tree of Life – God’s Good Earth 

The title I have chosen for my art piece is God’s good earth. I chose this title as it highlights both the good and bad elements found on this earth. The rationale of my drawing and what I like about it most, is that it shows two opposites, the healthy earth, and the dying earth. These come from the choices we make. This links into the biblical story of Adam and Eve and the two trees in the garden: the tree of life, and the tree which brings sin and death. The left side of the drawing symbolises death. In the same way that Adam and Eve’s disobedience in the garden – their choice to eat from the wrong tree, brought death to Eden, our choice has been to drain what is good on earth. The atmosphere is polluted, trees have been cut down, causing death and decay to wildlife, animals and plants. The right side of the drawing symbolises an untouched atmosphere, green grass, healthy soil, clear blue sky, this side represents the choice to choose from the tree of life, which leads to a flourishing and thriving world. I have shown nature as a tree trunk in the centre of my artwork straddling as both trees entwined, reflecting our bad and good choices, showing the impact our choices have on something so beautiful.
