Year 3 – What is it like for someone to follow God? – Assessment Sheet
About this resource
Year 3 Unit 19, ‚”What is it like for someone to follow God?‚ introduces pupils to key concepts within Christianity and the Old Testament, focusing on the idea of faithful obedience to God. This unit explores the stories of significant biblical figures‚-particularly Noah, Abraham, and Moses‚-to illustrate what it means to follow God‚”s guidance even when faced with uncertainty or challenge.
Pupils learn about God‚”s covenant with His people and how Christians today view the idea of trusting God, living by faith, and responding to God’s call. The unit uses storytelling, discussion, drama, and reflective activities to help pupils consider how and why people of faith act the way they do. They are invited to reflect on big questions like ‚”What does it mean to obey?‚Äù or ‚”How do people show loyalty or trust today?‚Äù
The unit also connects the biblical material to modern Christian practices, helping pupils understand how stories from thousands of years ago still influence believers’ choices today. Pupils consider how Christians attempt to live by God‚”s instructions, and what this might look like in their everyday lives‚-whether through prayer, service, or moral choices.
Through this unit, children build an understanding of the relationship between people and God, the importance of trust, and the challenges and rewards of living a life of faith. It encourages ages them to think about values, commitment, and spiritual identity, enhancing their religious literacy and appreciation of worldviews.
