God is Our Imaginations

I believe that God is what humans have created in their imaginations to give reason to things they couldn’t find a source of existence to. As an agnostic, in my artwork, I tried to demonstrate how, although I don’t believe in God’s Existence, in all our day-to-day lives there in an element of fate. Each of the words on the face I painted are human qualities that everyone on earth, from the people who may show these qualities more obviously, to the birds we see in our gardens each day, have. A world without any of these things- good or and, would be a very different one. Even if our world is far from perfect the idea has God has given us answers to questions, we couldn’t give reason to. I chose to paint a colourful face because no matter what we look like, every person has these same people unique.

I think that people often rely on God to decide their fate too much. If we just did what we felt was right without thinking of what would happen between ourselves and God, we wouldn’t become so trapped in the opinion of others. I’m not just saying that we should do whatever we want without thinking of the consequences, but we should be more dependent on our emotions.

Hatred, disgust, anger, and disappointment can’t be prayed away just like courage, kindness and appreciation can’t. Just like tattoos on a face are considered risky to have (because they are always visible and can’t be removed. They are on display for everyone to see are very easy to hide) I wrote traits on this person face to represent that has them, to embrace them or to try to better themselves, not for other beings.
