Peace between religions

Hello my name is Anielka Kalogianni and I have created a model representing between 6 religions: Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Taoism and Hinduism have created a candle which represents peace between these religions. For Christianity i have created angel wings, this also shows Jesus going up in the sky being the light of the world giving guidance and Angel Gabriel too. For Hinduism have created a hand, signifying one power. For Muslims I have created a mosque that goes over the wings, showing a place of worship. The light of mosque shines through the windows and creates a beautiful atmosphere for praying and reflecting. For Buddhism I have created a lotus flower proving that you can be the light grow from dirt and finally for Taoism I have created a sun and a moon to rep yin and yang which shows that you can be good even in a world of evil. The in Hinduism shows how good can defeat evil and this is celebrated on Diwa Judaism, the candle is important because it represents Moses guiding the Israelites out of Egypt. In Judaism they have a saying, “a little bit of light dispels a lo darkness”. This is why Jews today light a candle at Hannukah. In Buddhis can be used as a focus of meditation and hope in reaching the final goal. In Islam the light represents the divine light of Allah. Quran 24:35 says that Allah is “the light heavens and the earth”. 

I chose the theme of looking beyond because I feel like this represents my artwork and the unity amongst all the religions. They have so much in common but it’s sad that there is much divide between them. The candle shows how they can be one. 

I made sure that the candle can stand up by putting a stone in it, this shows that religious people should be standing strong in their beliefs and practices and work together to encourage peace. 

Although a candle is bringing light into many religions, a candle can be used for sad times like when I was at a funeral and a candle was lit. Candles are also lit at birthdays to show a new beginning.
