What makes you feel Good?

What do you think healing means? What do you identify it as? How would she represent it? Our group chose the theme healing for the competition. We tried to include different aspects from different religions and backgrounds into our artwork.

For example, the different bars of music represent lines of healing. This is as people use music as an outlet or to ease pain they are feeling. They are songs from gospels or just general songs made by artists. A personal favourite is the one next to butter that says, “restore, refine” as that is a type of healing that speaks to us all.

Another type of healing represented in our work is 1 from religious figures. This is shown in Buddha, Jesus, and Asclepius (Greek god of healing.) a lot of people are religious, and end returned to this form of figures to reconcile them. Or they look passages, in their holy book to also help through what they’re going through. Next to Asclepius you will find2 Greek words “healing.”

Finally, we have other figures such as Ying yang, a dove, a cherry blossom tree, hands, and candles. These are all associated with healing due to the part they play in some religions. Ying Yang for instance is about balance and a healthy state of mind and a dove represents peace and tranquilly.

There is also some fabric that includes some peaceful colours. This is like the green fabric as green is generally seen as a calming colour that brings healing energy to the heart.

Overall, our artwork shows a variety of healing. There were different parts and when we have incorporated it. During the pandemic and national lockdown, people chose to focus on their own healing. This is still something that is going on. The piece includes different ways people have done that. There are many ways of healing as every human is different.
